Finally finished it (after, a billion years):
Been busy with work and video games as of late. I also have a page on Tumblr that I primarily use for a webcomic but haven't tended to in a while. Currently, I've been doing short animations in Photoshop for fun. I really enjoyed doing them in the comic so I've focused on doing just those. I managed to find The Animator's Survival Guide---I thought I lost it but I didn't. <3 It's come in handy---I recently worked on a run cycle I didn't quite like so now I'll revisit it and see what I can do to improve. I'll post those animations in a bit.
Some ideas for another Weird Family. Meet Olivia and her parents:
Trying to make my external works match what's inside my head since the third grade.

Summa Summa Summa Tiiiiiime (Summer Time)
What I've been up to:
JOB
-Got a job doing graphic design/3D-type things (hurray---no more job searches. I was going crazy). Learning a new program called Cinema 4D. Similar to 3DS Max and Maya but it's a matter of learning the placement of the buttons and what not.
-I have a desk which is new. I personalized it with some sexy action figures (a dreadlocked penguin and a cactus dog w/ a soccer ball).
-I need more polo shirts
TIME/MONEY
Managing my time will be a massive challenge. I also need to come up with a stricter way to manage funds. Between Manny (the car my sister passed on to me) and my poor eating habits, I'll need to be more militant about what I spend. I want to make sure I'm paying back loans and all of that good stuff! So, I'll need a:
1) Planner (a notebook will do for now). Maybe one for money and another for time. Tempted to use the Calendar feature on Google but maybe it's a bit weird to put monetary stuff online. I mean, the government probably already knows way more about me than I'd like but it's best to make them work for it, lest they think I'm easy or something. :|
2) Budget: I have a loose idea of what I'll be making and my biggest vices are:
a) Food (particularly junk food although I am collecting pizza boxes to make this--samurai armor <3)
b) Video Games (but rarely nowadays--I mostly spend more money on food.)
I guess I should keep track of what I buy---look at bank statements online and get to know my vices and whittle them down to size.
HOME
-Excited for some friends that are coming over---three peeps that I made good friends with online. Need a vacuum cleaner to get the stink of bachelor out (just cleaned out the bathtub today. My sister would be so proud! :D )
-Ants. Everywhere. Well, just on my computer table in the living room (I dislike when they crawl up on my screen while I'm working). What the heckBob. And the exterminators came by last week...maybe it's the weather, I dunno. I'm not too mad---this place is significantly better than my last place. Ants > Roaches every time. Plus the staff's really kind. :)
ART
-Finished a commission for my sis. I'm happy about it and won't post it on deviantART until the gift has been delivered!
-Working on some projects for some friends--one is video game assets and another is an animated music video (<3) with someone I wanted to work with for a whiiiiiiiiiiile. :D
-Excited for the progress of my contract home base, Terncraft Games---they're putting their noses to the grindstone and finishin' up their latest game! Even though I had nothing to do with it, it looks really good and has a lot of potential!
THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE OF A SPACE VIRUS:
-Visit penguins in their natural habitat
-Go to a game conference
-Get a web comic up and going
-Use my art spectacularly for God's kingdom
-Make a successfully innovative indie game <3
-Build a robot
-Attend a cheese and wine party
-Meet a lot of my online friends!
-Learn some freakin' Flash already! >_<

It's called A Lighthearted Game, our studio's brainchild from the Global Game Jam I blogged about a few months ago. It's actually out-out, for reals--like, you can buy it and everything! The platforms it's out on now:
Windows Phone

They're shootin' for some other places soon and I'll update laters on but for now, check out some screenshots:

February 2013 Update
Um, I guess it's OK to write about life stuff here. I'm allowed, right? I mean, it's my blog so, yeah. Plus, only one person reads this so whatevers. I'm a fan of lists 'cause it gets right down to business:
Career Stuffs
-Learning about freelance work for the business my buddies and I are trying to put together; may have my first job! Yay! Actually talking about it on Skype right now--how businessy! :D
-I kind of don't want to apply for jobs that have nothing to do with my interests/major anymore. I know sometimes you have to buckle down but I'll be just as unhappy as I am now. I should look for jobs that are within my scope and trust that God will provide for me. Besides, shelter and food and water are basics God guarantees us. I'm a lily, baby.
Art
-Been working on stuff I've put off for the longest; it's hard but rewarding--I love the pressure of trying to better myself
-Learned that I'm not that big on experimenting with pen tip sizes
Music
-Listener
-Propoganda
-Bossanova <3
Family
-Older sis is getting married in May :)
-Younger sister is moving to Oregon on Thursday (which is why I'm moving out--we roomed together). We never hung out every waking moment but I feel we have an understanding. It was great having her here for support. I wonder if I was helpful to her while she was here...
Lodging
-Moving on Friday to Altamonte Springs--I'll be closer to my part-time job and church so that's nice. Also, I've never really explored the Altamonte area and I'll be living with my middle/high school buddy so it'll be a new experience for me!
-I'm used to moving into an apartment with someone--taking over stuff like utilities and stuff is new to me (apparently I have to call ahead of time to have it turned on)
Other
-Want to go to Megacon 2013 but not sure if I can afford it (actually, I think rent is cheaper than I thought so maybe I can!); Patrick Stewart will be there (autographs are $85 but I wasn't planning on getting one anyway)
-I'll have a car by Friday o__o
God
-Bought a Bible study that's teaching me about how to take dominion over aspects of my life and be all manly. Not lumberjack manly--just decent human being manly. Which is good enough for me. Plus logs can give you splinters
Health
-Doing myfitnesspal.com. I plan to really start eating properly on March (rice & beans diet) because I need to 1) pinch pennies for rent and 2) in general to save up for...stuff *shrugs*

Female Commission Samples
I've noticed a lot of people (read: two) asking me if I can draw animals for possible commissions. I told them yes but now I don't know what to charge for them. Depending on the animal, it won't be as difficult (or may be more difficult) to draw so I'm stumped. Anyways, here are the samples I drew to add to my deviantART account:
Half body
Full body
And full body color!
I didn't do a monochromatic one--yet. I'll add it later along w/ more samples. Stay tuned! :)

The Weird Family Breakfast: Part Duex
Nothing much to show--perfecting the lines for the background and worked on the floor tiles. I'm gonna throw a lot of shadows and highlights on there and I need to decide where the light source will be.
Well, I guess it'd either be a) a window or something off panel and/or b) a light, usu. overheard.
Let's keep it simple and stick with Option B.
Here's what I have so far:

Let's keep it simple and stick with Option B.
Here's what I have so far:
Going with colored outlines for the background and black outlines for the foreground (may change my mind and use dark colored outlines for the foreground section). I still have a lot of line cleanup to go before I tackle shadows & highlights. I also want to brighten up the background--maybe a lighter color of pink (supposed to be salmon for obvious reasons).
I think I'll take a break and draw something else for fun! I need to finish up the girl sketch for sure! :)

I felt I need more than just one example for caricatures so this time I'm drawing a female. This is a made up character, based off of no one other than my imagination. What I've got so far:
Rounding figure out:
Decided to change her post a bit and make it more dynamic. Also decided to give her a skirt because I don't draw those a lot:
I don't want to draw the outline of her hair because I feel like that'll be decided w/ the the color layer:

Global Game Jam
This is what I did this weekend! This event was awesome--God willing, I'm looking forward to attending many more! You don't even have to be in a group/studio/whatever to go--just sign up and participate! You can go in predetermined groups or join a group you meet when you get there!
Long Story Short: You're given a theme and based on that theme, you create a game in the course of 48 hours. The intent isn't to make a completed game so much as it's to 1) Learn, 2) Network, and 3) Have Fun!
The best part is that there were people participating all over the world--just about every continent had people doing this! All of the games are free source so you can even learn about/play the games that were done for this year and the years prior. Check out the game I did some of the art for!

Animation Test
See the colors on there? They look like they're the layers I used in Photoshop to make different frames for the animations in After Effects. I wonder why they're showing up like that--they're not even multicolored.
Anyways, I should learn how to animate with Photoshop and/or Flash--I just thought I'd do this for fun. I want an animation underneath the word 'Animation' on the front page of my website. :O

Drawing More Fan Art Like I Shouldn't
I was inspired to create the unstoppable penguin-based robot of time and glory, Pringer X!
I worked on this for most of the day for no particular reason. Well, I am trying to draw more so, that's as good a reason as any. I should go to be soon as I have to wake up early for work.
Well, anyway:
I worked on this for most of the day for no particular reason. Well, I am trying to draw more so, that's as good a reason as any. I should go to be soon as I have to wake up early for work.
Well, anyway:
1) Rough sketch
2) Cleaned up the lines as best as I could (I said this before but I tend to draw small when I should really go bigger--would really help me get in there with details and not look so pixelated)
3) Flat Color but didn't like it
4) Changed Flat Color to something darker that'd pop out slightly more
5) Added shadows
6) And highlights (I tried not to make my shadows so dark like I usually did. Plus, I typically neglect highlights and since this is a robot, I wanted it to be nice and shiny, d00d!)
7) Added color to the lines!
8) I placed a radial gradient on a black background for the weird space-ring looking thing. I wanted the scene to look more action packed so I--
9) --added these lines! Whoosh! Whee. Um, yeah, you get the idea.
10) Added some tiny details like stars, a sexy eye twinkle, and (what I hope is) a subtle glow to the line layer. This took a while and was really fun---I like pushing myself to draw for fun! :)
I wonder if it's pretentious of me to do step-by-steps of these when I'm not a big shot professional or anything. Hm...
...
I'll worry about that later. >_> <_<

Cave Story Fan Art + More To Come
After playing and beating Cave Story, I decided "Hey, I should do some fan art!"
So I did. Used Illustrator (with a wacom, to boot) for the first time in a while. Tried to capture a minimalistic art style with little to no shadows. Here's what I used as references:
I can stand to do some more do that but I wasn't sure so I left it the way it is for now. I'm still working on The Real Family Breakfast:
Reworked the background and might try colored outlines for the background stuff and black outlines for the foreground...I want this one to be super-duper perfect! I stopped working on the Wellington/Pacole drawing because I told myself "No more fan art--more original works!" and...I ended up doing more fan art.
Well, at least I'm still drawing, right? <__<
Job-wise: I'm doing OK. Still on the hunt! Won't give up! Some things are in works and I won't talk about it until it's finalized (I tend to be a bit presumptuous and end up biting my own tongue while swallowing my words and pride at the same time).
I've also dealing with moving soon (and biting my nails in anticipation of my tax return). Other personal stuff in my life...um...happened so all of that explains why I haven't been posting here a lot. That should and will change!
OH, UPDATED MY RESUME! YAY!
And congrats to the Markey family on...being a family and stuff! :D

My Old Works
I haven't forgotten about them! Redrawing the line and adding color for visual purposes (the purple background helps me see lines and color better):
I reorganized the layers and learned how to color over pixels a la staying-in-the-lines so I got rid of the colored line layers--I'll just perfect this current sketch layer and color over that (Lock transparent pixels command in the Layers toolbar).
The Weird Family Breakfast: Redoing background completely
Tea Time W/ Prinnies: Will probably redo background
- Updated my website--added a Behance and LinkedIn pages.
- Completing the meager 0.5% ouy of the already done 99.5% on my super-secret-ninja contract job (Can't wait until it's done! Really pumped about it)
- Made a new picture for my DeviantART account:
WARK WARK! FIGHT DA POWA!!!!
- I'm willing to do commissions but...have no idea how to start. I'll check DeviantART forums and maybe advertise the way I originally planned (examples on my website, word of mouth, social networking sites, etc.)

Dem Promotions
1) Terncraft Games just came out with their first mobile game, Thieving Tower. I'm working on a cool project with them and personally know the people who worked on this game--check it out:
2) I follow this guy's Blogger page quite a bit and admire what he's setting out to do. Take a look at his pages and his fancy schmancy project. I don't know him personally but I still want to promote his site. :)
3) Another guy I don't know personally (although I'll probably try to abuse him on Steam someday) has a new Facebook page up. He's also has a deviantArt page where he has tutorials I've used in the past (the Wacom tutorial was a lifesaver when I first got my Bamboo Touch and Fun). He's got a graphic novel in the works that I have bookmarked and ready to read when it's finally out but in the mean time, I check his Tumblr page on occasion. :)
Update! - September 2012
So sorry to all two people who read this--I haven't been around but rest assured, I've yet to bite the dust. I have been busy with freelance work but I should probably update on stuff while I'm doing it (well in this case, I can't show pictures of things until the project is officially don't--disclosure agreement and all of that). Anyways:
-Changed website again. For some reason, I can't post images w/o a colored background/background period on the website. Want a clean yet sketchy kind of style. Can't wait until I'm able to afford a domain name! :)
*will reconsider color scheme but blues will do for now
*will reconsider arrangement of pictures once I get more art in. So far it's separated by fan art, life drawings and original digital work. I would love to start series of drawings (i.e. Weird Family Breakfast series, etc.)
-Applying for more jobs now--really utilizing the social networking capabilities of Twitter (and here I was going to delete my account there).
-My Bamboo tablet is being stubborn (eraser acts as a brush--usually when I restart Photoshop, that's enough to fix it but not now for some reason. Also, pen sensitivity is non-existent, a huge problem for me). I went to the Wacom website to see if there were new drivers I need to upload and the site's down for maintenance. Poop.

What I'm Doing With Myself - June/July 2012
-Managed to get two freelance projects--a huge deal for me. It's pretty much a miracle! Been juggling that and my part-time job so it's been fun on a bun. Late nights and computer troubles--like college except more rewarding. :)
-Something I need to get around to--cards. But I don't have a lot of money at the moment (I don't think it takes a lot of money, actually...)
-The only game I have time for is Pokemon Black/White--I can play it on the bus to/from work. Also, my friend just purchased it and I have someone to play online with (mulling over whether or not I should bother with Pokemon B/W 2)
*Excited about Hawken at the end of this year. I always like mecha games--the feel of piloting a large, metal beast to beat up opponents is fun. I remember playing Virtual On in the arcades a lot (I was always the pink girly robot because it was lighter and faster) and Hawken seems like it'd give me that experience! I signed up for the beta trial but nothing yet.
-Will need to update my site soon! Thinking of re-hauling the sucka. I'm glad I haven't bought a domain name just yet--I'm still not 100% satisfied with it. Torn between finding someone to make my site for me or just learning how to do it myself (I'm exploiting Adobe Creative Cloud and have access to stuff like Dreamweaver now)
-Considering a membership to the Art Museum of Orlando--you get access to museums all over the US. I really, really, really, really, really wanna travel.
Drawings to come soon, semi-scout's honor. <_< >_>

Scanner Troubles
It's not working for some reason...I didn't do as much as I wanted to but I had some rough sketches of an idea that hatched in mah brain. I'll either try to get this thing working or just redo them digitally. I have to go to work early so I gotta turn in--night, peoples. :0
Also, apparently Pixar is working on a movie called Wreck-It Ralph? Sounds interesting. Don't forget to catch Brave on June 22nd!
(I can understand why Brave took a while to come out---Merida's hair alone probably took years to tame...untame?)
